NICK SPOONER WRITES AND DIRECTS TRAILER FOR 2010 PALM SPRINGS FILM FESTIVAL

Beef and Chop rebrands the look and feel for 2010ʻs Palm Springs Film Festival by promoting today’s young, filmmaking culture while still addressing the core of what it takes to be a filmmaker. The project encapsulated the exploration of a fantastical “zoetrope” theme with the tagline, “Vision. Persistence.”

The live action portion of the campaign was written and directed by Founding Director Nick Spooner of Beef Films.

Chop House Edit completed all the design elements for the campaign including editorial, visual effects, motion design and finishing.

Considered one of the foremost cultural events of the year, attendance to the festival was over 130,000 people and the theatrical trailer was viewed at over 400 screenings and at a number of VIP events.

FRESHDV EDITOR INTERVIEWS STEPHEN HENS IN NOVEMBER 2010

Matthew Jeppson (FreshDV editor) interviewed Stephen Hens, Creative Director at Chop House Edit (now Chop House Post) in November, 2010 about the companyʼs current scope of work, specialities and how its overall digital workflow is integrated in all projects to make for a much more seamless experience.

Hens discussed the inspiration behind the companyʼs brand and went into much detail about a PSA campaign that Beef Films and Chop House handled soup to nuts. He explained in great depth about RED workflow in the Final Cut Studio on how that played a big part in finishing the campaign in such little time. Since then, the company has expanded and changed quite significantly – working with projects that are no longer shot on Red, but rather the Alexa or Cannon 5D or 7D – cameras that supersede Red, what, at the time was considered, the ultimate digital platform.

A company that continues to pride itself on being a straight FCP facility that works tapeless and digital only is now adding some hot new additions to it soon to be opened facility in Santa Monica this summer. All of which will be news at the unveiling.”Download Stephen Hens Audio Interview Here
